PU Tooling Boards

Polyurethane tooling boards for working patterns, core boxes, checking fixtures and moulding tools. Compare the published grades by density, hardness and thermal performance, then confirm the processing route in the TDS.

The practical route for patterns, fixtures and working tools

PU tooling boards help customers move quickly from a blank to a usable pattern, fixture or working tool. Grade choice should follow accuracy, wear, temperature, thickness and the planned number of parts rather than a board code alone.

01 / CUSTOMER PROBLEM

Reduce mass and lead time

Replace a heavy metal or multi-piece build with a stable, machinable non-metal blank for patterns, checking fixtures, low-to-medium temperature tools and foundry work.

02 / SELECTION LOGIC

Match duty to grade

Compare surface quality, compression and flexural behaviour, wear, thermal exposure and part count. A short prototype run can reveal whether the selected grade keeps its edge and face under the actual fixture or mould load.

03 / PROCESS CHECKPOINTS

Build a stable blank

Plan block layout, adhesive joints, support, CNC allowance, sealing and repair as one route. Store boards flat, allow the material to reach shop temperature and inspect the bonded blank before machining.

04 / RELEASE CHECK

Verify the real cycle

Confirm the board, adhesive, coating and release agent together. For sand, core-box or repeated tooling use, validate abrasion, demoulding and dimensional change with the intended process.

Set the grade against the tool’s real duty.Share geometry, temperature or hardness target, process route, quantity and finish requirement. The matching EPTEK TDS remains the authority for grade-specific values and handling limits.Contact us ↗
