01 / PREPARATION
Establish the extent of the defect
Remove contamination and unsound material. Identify whether the defect is a local resin shortage, a surface problem or damage involving reinforcement; the repair method must match the condition.
TOOLING MATERIALSApplication / Wind energy
Repair materials address resin-starved areas and local defects in wind blades. Component adhesives serve a separate job, such as attaching vortex generators or serrated trailing edges. EPTEK also supports repair of other composite products after checking the substrate and service conditions.
Engineering requirements
| Application | EPTEK product | Selection focus |
|---|---|---|
| Filling resin-starved areas after blade manufacture | EPBOND 2020 epoxy repair adhesive | Access to the defect, wetting, fill thickness, compatibility with the existing blade adhesive and cure conditions |
| Vortex generators and serrated trailing edges | MA150-30 acrylic structural adhesive | Substrate preparation, bondline geometry, toughness and durability |
| Holding glass reinforcement during blade manufacture | SprayGlue 628 | Spray coverage and compatibility with the subsequent resin process; this is a process aid rather than a structural repair |

02 / CURE AND VERIFICATION
Confirm the workable time at the actual temperature, access for application, and cure before finishing or loading. For structural damage, follow the blade or component repair procedure and verify the result.
