Automotive Master Models

An automotive master model provides a rigid, inspectable reference for body surfaces, tooling development and dimensional checks. Choose its construction by size, surface quality, accuracy, handling and the next manufacturing step.

01 / CNC MACHINING

Bonded model boards

Model boards form a stable, machinable blank. Plan joints and adhesive cure before machining, then inspect the finished surface and reference features. PUBOARD model grades and suitable LBOARD grades serve different density and surface requirements.

02 / SURFACE BUILD-UP

Tooling paste on a supported core

A lightweight substrate and supported working layer reduce the volume of dense model material. EPMOLD EP65 / EP72 machine-applied paste, or the appropriate hand-applied paste, provides the machining allowance.

03 / NEAR-NET BLANK

Precision-cast material

A cast blank follows the part envelope before finishing. PUBLOCK precision-cast materials can reduce the number of board joints; the casting process and thermal stability must be validated before machining.

04 / DESIGN REVIEW

Keep clay styling separate

An industrial-clay model is used for sculpting and iterative surface development. It has a different working layer and workflow from a rigid master model.
